Yesterday, on 11th of November the team had another striking performance as some Australian visitors stated on Twitter, http://twitter.com/primalamusica/status/135115866630139904 (worthwhile following Sarah Noble, who is also running a blog on opera (!)).

Unlike earlier performances at Semper 2 where I went more than once to see the development of the play, the interplay amongst the singers, the audience, and the orchestra, this time only the premiere for me.

Yet that was not enough, couldn't leave without coming for a second time, which was the after performance talk on 10th of November with Valda Wilson, Timothy Oliver, Erik Nielsen, Lina Lindheimer, and Manfred Weiß. Two dozens of interested people were awaiting the conversation. Myself I joined just after the performance, still struck by a 'Lohengrin' earlier that week and more than a still observer.

These are the moments when emotions, as you let the play pass by and hear voices from people in the audience who have met Karl Amadeus Hartmann, and lived through the times which are pointed "cassandra-like" on stage, come up in every one.

Opportunities like this evening are the bounding strings that bring the audience into an authentic connection to the play, and the singers, building up t the trust in the work they perform on stage. Hearing about their own emotions while singing on stage, opens the hearts of people - isn't that the purpose of (he)arts?

Thankful to live close by the house, so constant learning is flawlessly possible, spreading the word about what great emotions are to be drawn at this magic place around Theaterplatz, where Semperoper is inviting the crowd every night. With its "little sister" now on the side, where the unimaginable happens - just let you be drawn by your curiousity to experience your own surprised mind, and heart!RalfLippoldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15149352083082630755noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2241263881192133703.post-84639039000659081392011-10-24T23:33:41.396+02:002011-10-24T23:33:41.396+02:00This posting as well as the "Musik in Dresden...This posting as well as the "Musik in Dresden" review made me really regret that I missed to get a ticket for the premiere before it was too late, since seeing the stage concept on the open house day in September (a model as well as audience seats, the grass mats and the tree were on display in the workshops – remarkable how it widely went by unnoticed that the cat was already out of the bag) immediately made me expect that it must confuse unexpecting audiences. But then it will presumably be not too different on this weeks performances...

Such close stagings are pretty suitable for the very basic: Introducing someone to opera. On Dido and Aeneas there was still an uppermost seat row, feeling like a place to which one could flee, but in the end it made no real difference.

Concerning yesterdays Alcina introduction: It was an experience of the other kind to cross the tapes with which the Theaterplatz had been blocked off for some sports event. Reminded me of how the first walk to the Semper 2 stage felt like crossing a line...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2241263881192133703.post-61357312355657677142011-10-24T14:20:15.584+02:002011-10-24T14:20:15.584+02:00Perhaps I will have to watch it some time as well....Perhaps I will have to watch it some time as well.Florianhttp://fv-web.denoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2241263881192133703.post-73644773459077068102011-10-23T23:48:07.088+02:002011-10-23T23:48:07.088+02:00Our life and our emotions go on stage (as always.....Our life and our emotions go on stage (as always...even if often we do not realize it!). I believe that direct and close performances are the best way to let the audience enter in near contact with the artists on stage (most of the time they are seen as aliens occuping a space - the stage - for a specific span of time and having nothing to do with the audience's life....a completely wrong belief!). This near contact helps also the audience to have a more complete idea of the great job behind the show - final product - and the tight co-operation among all the single artists. Performing on stage is not easy at all, but performing so near to the audience is even more difficult, every single body and face movement is analized by all the people. Congratulation to all the staff who made this show possible and to all the artists who brought it on stage and shared their passion for art with their audience!....very often the audience forget to be also part of the performance, their reaction is felt by the artists and they react to the audience feelings! Co-operation between audience and artists is always there, it needs only to be felt! ;-) Many thanks Ralf for this articol, an interesting and meaningful reading as always!Angela Incampohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17759385728901092964noreply@blogger.com
