Funky Business Workshop

A couple of weeks ago -in preparation for a Lean Learning Conference- I asked members of the group on "Lean Thinking" (in German I have to admit;-) the following question:

What has been your most awesome workshop experience?

Guess what? No answer (almost).

Aren't people having fun at workshops at all and even don't think about having such in order to learn something useful?

Monkey Business could make a difference and so do we.

Working on the change around us - as we have it in our hands to change it:-)

Cheers and welcome to Leipzig

Ralf

Hey Ralf,

was this question you asked about awesome workshop experiences inspired by the story from the book Orbiting the Giant Hairball, where Gordon Mackenzie facilitated a meeting for creating a sales event?

About the question, I find sometimes the word best limiting, because best refers a single thing. Only one can be truly best. Maybe asking about some of the best experiences could be more opening? I don't know. Or maybe the question best requires a high level of trust in a group, because best is always very subjective thing. And when you claim something to be best you expose yourself for critisism (as writing a blog does the same :).

In my understanding what Gordon did in the book was that he started with negative question about the worst experiences. With that he cleared up the air to creative brainstorming about an excellent event to be.

Anyways, how is the design process at the moment? I saw you've got 23 participants. That is a good amount to have an intensive gathering.

Best of luck and keep it yellow!

Hi Ville,

Thanks for commenting and reminding me of "Orbiting the Giant Hairball" (thanks to Charles, that I have read it in the first:-)).

Reframing the question is probably worthwhile, and yet I focused on the posiitive side in the first place. Why not change perspective?

Concerning the design process for LTT, the process is deciding what will be and surprise event are welcome;-)

Cheers,

Ralf
